It is almost spring here in Myrtle Beach and the crew here at River Oaks Golf Club is ready for the hustle and bustle of the season that is about to hit the area.  Springtime is golf season here in “The Golf Capital of the World” where thousands and thousands of vacationing golfers ascend upon our beachside community and take over our golf courses.  River Oaks has become a favorite of many visiting golfers over the last few years and we are excited to welcome them back!

The golf course is rounding into wonderful condition and the tee sheet is filling up for the next couple of months.  Our superintendent, Jeff Weitzel, and his staff have been hard at work transitioning the grounds from the winter conditions to the warmer spring environment.  The grass is greening up as the trees and foliage are starting to bloom.  Everything from the tee boxes to the putting surfaces are shaping up nicely and will be ready to provide players with a great experience whether they are playing the course for the first time or if they are a return customer.

The golf course is not the only part of the property that is in great shape.  The clubhouse got a bit of a new look on the inside over the winter.  A paint job and some new facing and signage around the pro shop makes it look like a new place.  It’s a fresh look and it brings a great feel to the place.  PGA Head Professional Scott Taylor and his staff and extremely proud and excited about the changes in the shop and grill area.

“Golfers are going to love what they see when they step inside the doors of the shop now'” said Taylor.  “Even though we did not change anything structurally it has a very different feel and looks like it is a little roomier in here.”

The attention to details is what is taking River Oaks in the positive direction it has been heading in for the last several years and is most definitely heading in 2019.  This is going to be a fun year at River Oaks and golfers need to get out and see us soon!
