Fall is a great time to play golf in Myrtle Beach and this fall at River Oaks things are looking green! We are all very aware of the struggles that many of the golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area have gone through in the past 8-10 months with deep freezes and hurricane and flooding. Golf courses have had a hard time keeping the standard of appearance and play that golfers are used to seeing along the Grand Strand. River Oaks was no different but the hard work of the ownership and staff have worked tirelessly to get the golf course into the great shape it is in today.
Golf course superintendent, Jeff Weitzel, and his team worked a great game plan make sure River Oaks is a golf course that golfers will want to return to again and again. Loads upon loads of sod were trucked in throughout the summer to replace areas that were affected by the winterkill that hurt the entire southeast region of the country. Hole by hole and green by green, Jeff and the boys turned River Oaks green again making everyone happy.
“Jeff and his staff put in so much time and a ton of effort over the past several months,” said Scott Taylor, PGA Head Professional, and part owner. “It was really amazing to see the amount fo time and work it took for those guys to get us up to and keep us up to the playable standards that our guests have come to know and love about River Oaks.”
